Who We Are
AZ Blue has been dedicated to the health of Arizonans for nearly a century. Rooted in a history of giving, the Foundation is shaping the future of community impact, focused on addressing our state’s most pressing health challenges: Mental health, chronic conditions, health equity, and substance use disorders.
What We Do
The Foundation—a 501(c)(3) private, non-operating foundation—invests in programs and applied research that help make Arizona healthier.
Where it All Began
We’ve been inspiring health in Arizona since 1939. From the Buckle Up campaign in the ‘60s to mobile health screenings in the ‘80s to our Mobilize AZ initiative starting in 2018, which addressed the opioid epidemic, AZ Blue has invested millions in philanthropic funding.
AZ Blue in Action
The AZ Blue Foundation is a cornerstone of our community impact – and one of the many ways we help shape a stronger Arizona. Through Foundation and Medicaid funding, corporate support, and employee volunteer efforts, AZ Blue in Action brings health to all Arizonans.
- $5.3M in 2024 funding
- 300 community partners
- All 15 counties served
Paving the way to a stigma-free Arizona
Empowering Arizonans to speak freely about behavioral health concerns is at the heart of the #StigmaFreeAZ campaign. By reducing stigma and removing barriers to care, more Arizonans can get the help they need.
- 50% of those with mental health issues don’t seek help
- 25% of them list stigma as the primary reason
Community Collective

Mobilize AZ
AZ Blue took bold steps to address the opioid epidemic and the rise in substance use disorder, mental health challenges, and diabetes. From 2018 to 2022, our Mobilize AZ public health initiative increased access and promoted health equity.
