Pawsitive Partnerships: Youth Mental Health and Animal Assisted Interventions

For children with disabilities or mental health concerns, a helping hand might come in the shape of a paw. Power Paws – an Arizona nonprofit that trains and places service dogs – is addressing the mental health needs of children with disabilities as well as those affected by trauma who are navigating a school environment or the court system.

Fueling the Future: Supporting Pediatric Mental Health Providers

Arizona ranks #49 of all 50 states in youth mental health, and at last count there were only 175 child and adolescent psychiatrists in our state. In response to this severe shortage, the Arizona Pediatric Psychiatry Access Line (APAL) serves as a lifeline for providers and their young patients.

Disordered Eating Across Ages and Genders

Did you know that 9% of Arizonans will experience an eating disorder in their lifetime? Eating disorders are serious mental health conditions that affect people of all ages and genders—and they can have serious physical health consequences, including increased risk for heart conditions and electrolyte imbalances. Early support can make a life-changing difference.

Beyond Awareness: Embracing Acceptance and Empowerment for Individuals with Down Syndrome.

Explore empowerment of the Down syndrome community with Robin Lea-Amos, Executive Director, and Christel Baker, Board Member, with GiGi’s Playhouse Phoenix, a Down syndrome achievement center. We’ll consider “why awareness matters” and look at the impact of inclusion in schools, workplaces, and communities, as well as the financial benefits of early and consistent therapies.

Together, we can uplift health in Arizona.
