Blue Cross® Blue Shield® of Arizona (BCBSAZ) has stood for the health of its members and customers, the community, and all Arizonans for nearly a century. A locally owned and non-profit company, BCBSAZ goes beyond offering health insurance to improve health in a myriad of ways for all Arizonans.
From the Buckle Up campaign in the ’60s to mobile health screenings in the ’80s, BCBSAZ has invested millions in philanthropic funding to address unmet health needs across Arizona. In recent years, the organization brought awareness to childhood obesity and related health issues with its Walk On! program and addressed food insecurity for Arizonans living in food deserts with Nourishing Arizona.
At the height of the opioid epidemic, BCBSAZ launched Mobilize AZ. This public health initiative tackled opioid and substance use disorder as well as mental health, diabetes, and health equity.
BCBSAZ has long gone where need is the greatest — like in supporting Arizonans during the COVID-19 pandemic.
Mobilize AZ has invested over $15 million in myriad ways for the health of Arizona. The Mobilize AZ grant program, for example, funds local organizations that are working to build and deliver prevention, treatment, and resiliency services.
